Metallurgical Design means optimization of the microstructure in order to obtain the physical, mechanical and technological peculiarities. This can be done by the right choice of materials, heat treatments and surface treatments.

The right choice of materials and treatments makes production cheaper and more fluid. Consider for instance failures during hardening and quenching due to a too high hardenability of the material; deformations after heat treatment which compromise the final grinding, residual stresses and so on.
In the Far East imposing materials and heat treatments with adeguate technical specifications it is possible to create an own quality standard, a quality education for the supplier.
